Master Thesis

The aim of a master's thesis is to independently address a scientific question or topic in the areas of Management and Entrepreneurship

There are two application and allocation rounds per year (see below under Process). Master's thesis topics are published here for the fall semester and spring semester, which you can apply for (see below under Topics).

Requirements:
  • Completed the bachelor's degree
  • Completed the course "Seminar in Management & Entrepreneurship" at our department
  • Before registering for the master's thesis, any conditions must be successfully completed and at least 45 ECTS credits must have been earned

1. Publication of the possible topics

2. Registration for the Master thesis

Students register for the chosen topic.

Content of the email:

  • Name/First name, student ID, contact details, proof of achievements, at least 3 prioritized topics or a short proposal for a self-proposed topic or for a practical master's thesis.
  • Please note that registrations outside this period will not be considered.
  • Exception: For practical master's theses, it is possible to submit short proposals continuously. Please be sure to follow the guidelines of the information sheet.

3. Feedback

The department will provide feedback on the selection via email.

4. Election Kick-off Meeting

Student registers by email for an appointment within the specified deadline from the supervisor.

Content of the email:

  • Name/First name, matriculation number, contact details, preferred dates (see period for kick-off dates in the topic announcement)
  • Attention: In case of late registration for the kick-off meeting, the confirmation of supervision will lapse. By registering for the kick-off meeting, you accept the supervision position bindingly. A withdrawal after acceptance will result in failing the final thesis and receiving a grade of 1.

5. Feedback Department

The feedback will be sent via email to students, with information about the appointment arrangement.

7. Submission of Proposal

Student submits proposal for the chosen topic.
Deadline: 3 weeks after kick-off
Submission format: via email to the supervisor
Content: Proposal according to the guidelines for bachelor's theses (see guidelines)

8. Meeting Proposal

between students and supervisors
Appointment: after submission of the proposal
Location: online or in person
Content: feedback, discussion, possible revision requests

9. If applicable, submission of the revised proposal

Deadline: 2 weeks after the discussion of the proposal
Submission form: by email to supervising person
Content: revised proposal in accordance with the discussion

10. Release and start of the processing time

The caregiver releases the start of the processing time.
Deadline: The processing period starts on the day of the first proposal discussion.

11. Interim discussion (optional)

between students and supervisors
Appointment: by arrangement within the ten-week processing period
Location: online meeting or in person

12. Master thesis presentation

12. Submission of Master's thesis

Deadline: 22 weeks after discussing the proposal
Format: One bound copy and PDF

  • via email to the supervisor as well as submission of a bound copy in the supervisor's office.
  • Note: The work is considered failed if the submission deadline is not met.

13. Grade report to the Dean's office

The supervisor submits the grade report to the dean's office. Earlier, the student is informed about the grade via email by the supervisor.
Deadline: no later than three months after the submission of the bachelor's thesis.

14. Feedback discussion (optional)

The registration window for a bachelor's thesis is from April 25 (12:00) to May 2 (12:00) (Date 1) and from October 25 (12:00) to November 2 (12:00) (Date 2).
