Bachelor's Thesis

The aim of a bachelor's thesis is to independently address a scientific question or topic in the areas of Management and Entrepreneurship

There are two application and allocation rounds per year (see below under Process). Bachelor's thesis topics are published here for the fall semester and spring semester, which you can apply for (see below under Topics).

  • Completion of the introductory year
  • Successful complection of atleast one proseminar (preferably the “Proseminar in Management”).
  • And others if applicable

Processing Time:

12 weeks, from the start of the proposal approval

1. Publication of the possible topics

  • Fall Semester: Early June
  • Spring Semester: Early December

 

2. Registration for the Bachelor's thesis

In the application form, you may select your three preferred topics and are required to attach a recent transcript of records as well as a motivation letter. The motivation letter should explain why you wish to write your thesis with us and describe your intended methodological approach. It should not exceed one A4 page, using font size 12 and single line spacing. 

Registration period:

  • Fall Semester: June to 31st August
  • Spring Semester: December to 31st January

 

3. Feedback
Once the application deadline has closed, you will then be informed within one week which topic was assigned to you.
 

4. Kick-off Meeting

Once your topic has been assigned, you are required to contact your supervisor within one week to arrange a kick-off meeting. During this meeting, additional information regarding your topic will be provided and a proposal submission date will be agreed upon. 
Content of the email:

  • Name/First name, matriculation number, contact details, preferred dates (see period for kick-off dates in the topic announcement)
  • Attention: In case of late registration for the kick-off meeting, the care commitment will expire. By registering for the kick-off meeting, you accept the care place bindingly. 

 

5. Submission of Proposal

Student submits proposal for the chosen topic.

Deadline: 2 weeks after kick-off
Submission format: via email to the supervisor
Content: Proposal according to the guidelines for bachelor's theses (see guidelines)

If applicable, submission of the revised proposal (optional)

If your proposal is not accepted you will get time to rework your proposal and resend it to your supervisor.

Deadline: 1 week after proposal feedback

 

6. Release and start of the processing time

The supervisor releases the start of the processing time.
Deadline: The processing period of 12 weeks starts on the day of the accepted proposal.

Interim discussion (optional)

between students and supervisors
Appointment: by arrangement within the twelve-week processing period
Location: online meeting or in person

 

7. Bachelor's Thesis presentation (dates will be confirmed once the application deadline has passed)

  • Fall Semester: In December
  • Spring Semester: In May

 

8. Submission of Bachelor's thesis

Deadline: 12 weeks after discussing the proposal
Format: One bound copy and PDF

  • via email to the supervisor as well as submission of a bound copy in the supervisor's office.
  • Note: The work is considered failed if the submission deadline is not met.

 

9. Grade report to the Dean's office

The supervisor submits the grade report to the dean's office. Earlier, the student is informed about the grade via email by the supervisor.
Deadline: no later than three months after the submission of the bachelor's thesis.
